Why is thermal insulation of sports facilities important?

Sports facilities should primarily take care of the comfort of their users, because the conditions in the hall directly affect their results, well-being and health. That is why so much attention is paid to maintaining the appropriate temperature and humidity level inside the building. The temperature in such a place should not be too high or too low, but poor moisture condensation may lead to the formation of mold or other problems. Fortunately, well-designed and constructed thermal insulation helps control the conditions in the hall all year round.

Reduce energy costs and improve user comfort

Thermal insulation of sports facilities is therefore necessary to ensure the appropriate temperature, comfort for users, reduce energy costs and at the same time prevent moisture-related problems. Therefore, when designing and building sports halls, an appropriate thermal insulation solution should be taken into account, which will create the best possible conditions for its operation. Our company Quortex deals, among other things, with the insulation of tent structures by blowing in polystyrene granules. This is a great option for every owner and works well at any time of the year.

Maintaining the appropriate temperature involves the constant use of heating and air conditioning in a sports facility. For this reason, owners consume a lot of energy and thus incur high costs. However, if we reduce heat losses, we can reduce energy losses throughout the facility.

Insulation of tent halls by blowing in polystyrene granules

Thermal insulation, or more commonly known as warming of the tent hall on the structure, is carried out by blowing in polystyrene granules using a special portable pump at a maximum pressure of 225 Pa. Thanks to this device, we are able to insulate a hall covering one court in up to 10 hours, depending on local conditions.

Styrofoam is inserted between two layers of coatings, thus creating an insulating layer with a thickness depending on the degree of tension of the coatings. In places that require it, we use special reinforcing belts.

Thermal insulation of the tent hall means up to 80% savings in heating costs

According to our measurements, hall insulation allows you to save up to 80% in heating costs. The thermostatic conditions inside the hall improve significantly, making it much cooler in the summer and staying warm much longer in the winter.

In summer, on hot days, the temperature in the hall is 15°C lower than outside, in winter, after the hall has not been heated for a night, the temperature inside in the morning is 11 - 18°C higher than outside - and the greater the frost, the higher the temperature difference.

Thermal insulation allows you to select the optimal heating unit for the tent hall

The achieved thermal insulation allows you to select the optimal heating unit for a given hall, which generates additional operational savings, and the use of destratifiers inside the hall that mixes the air ensures even temperature distribution inside the facility. Such solutions allow for a radical reduction in the operating costs of the hall.

A common problem in this type of sports halls is water vapor condensing on the walls and running down the tarpaulins - insulation completely and immediately eliminates this problem. The acoustic insulation achieved thanks to an average 30 cm layer of Styrofoam in the hall walls is 29-32 dB less of the noise escaping to the outside. An additional advantage is the significant mechanical strengthening of the walls, which makes the hall much more resistant to wind.
